MEDICAL DEVICES

Nasal Aspirator

Can the Nasal Aspirator be used on infants?

Yes. The Lollababy Nasal Aspirator has been designed to clear noses for babies from 0+ ages. Please use the Newborn Silicone Tip meant for infants.

How is the Lollababy Nasal Aspirator different from manual-type nasal aspirators or bulb syringes?

The Lollababy Nasal Aspirator has a powerful and steady suction to remove mucus. Our aspirator’s suction method prevents babies from transmitting their infection to parents and caregivers the way other manually-operated devices do.

How can it help babies or children?

By suctioning mucus thoroughly, the aspirator helps prevent sickness and alleviates discomfort of babies and young children who are unable to expel or clear their own blocked noses of mucus.

Nasal aspiration can help your child breathe more easily and helps your child sleep better.

Does it help to extract phlegm?

The Lollababy Nasal Aspirator works to suction out mucus produced in the nose, not the throat, where phelgm is essentially mucus produced by the respiratory system (the lungs). The aspirator works to clear mucus in the nose (nasal) passages only.

Where is this manufactured?

The Lollababy Nasal Aspirator is made in Taiwan. The product is approved by the US FDA (Food and Drug Administration), Europe’s CE (Conformité Européene” which literally means “European Conformity”) standards and Singapore’s HSA (Health Sciences Authority).

Which tip do I use?

There are three types of tips.

NEWBORN [0-3months]
is designed for very small nostrils. Be gentle and careful when inserting the tip. Also do not use too often on this age group. The nasal lining is delicate and should retain its natural moisture.

LONG REACH/GENTLE Suction [3 months+]
The long tip reaches a little deeper in the nostril and is gentler in suction. As the tip is smaller in diameter, it allows gaps between tip and the nostril for a less powerful suction. Suitable for sensitive noses. Do not insert it too deeply into baby’s nostril as it can damage the delicate nasal lining.

POWER SUCTION [6 months+]
The tip is bigger in diameter, filling up gaps in the open nostril. This provides an increased suction from the aspirator. If in doubt, please message us on Facebook, Instagram, or e-mail us with your question.

What is the best way to use the product?

Aspirate little by little, rotating the nose tip around the nostril area to pick up mucus in the nose. Do not insert the nose tip too hard into the nostril, thus damaging the mucus lining of the nostril. Observe your infant closely for any sign of pain or discomfort. Stop aspirating immediately if there is pain or signs of a nosebleed. Optimise the use of the the Lollababy Nasal Aspirator by using it after your child’s bath or right after a hot meal. These are times when the mucus is softened by heat and moisture.

Proper Usage of the Power Suction Silicone Tip
Insert the silicone tip into the nostril so there it fits snugly. The mucus cannot be aspirated properly if there is a small gap between the nostril and the silicone tip. The small gap of air prevents a proper vacuum which allows for stronger suction by the aspirator.

Are there conditions where the aspirator should not be used?

Do not aspirate the mucus if there are wounds and inflammation in the mucus lining of the nose inside the nostril. Also, do not use the unit after a nosebleed.

How often can I use it?

We recommend use when your baby has a recurrent runny nose as too much nasal mucus may lead to middle ear infection caused by mucus running to the ear, sinusitis caused by inflammation, or production of sputum and cough caused by mucus running from the nasal passages down to the throat.

How do I clean the aspirator?

You can easily remove all parts from the main body to wash under the tap, or in hot water. Sterilise parts using UV or Steam steriliser. Do note that the tips may turn yellow when exposed to prolong UV light.

  • Dry the main unit and accessories thoroughly before storing.
  • DO NOT use a dishwasher for washing the parts.

Forehead Thermometer

How do I switch between °C and °F?

In power off mode, press and hold the START button then press the STAND-BY (ON/MEM) button for 3 seconds. °C will switch to °F.
You can use the same process to switch back from °F to °C.

NOTE: When you switch between °C and °F, this will clear any temperature records stored in the thermometer’s memory.

How does the thermometer alert me if my child has a fever?

If the thermometer detects a temperature equal to or greater than 37.5°C (or 99.5°F) when in forehead mode, it will sound three short beeps followed by one long beep to warn you of potential fever.

How do I get an accurate temperature reading?

We recommend that:

  • Your child and thermometer should be in the same stable ambient (room) temperature for 15 minutes before taking the temperature.
  • Make sure the scanner lens is clean and undamaged.
  • If your child’s eyebrow area is covered with hair, sweat, make-up or dirt, please clean the area to improve the accuracy of the temperature reading.
  • Make sure that your child hasn’t drunk, eaten or been physically active before / while taking the measurement.
  • Always hold the thermometer and forehead steady when taking a reading. Do not move the thermometer until you hear the final beep.
  • Don’t take a measurement during or immediately after nursing a baby.

In-Ear Thermometer

How to identify the different error messages and what do they mean?
I seem to be getting a constant ``lo`` or ``hi`` reading

Ensure that the you have used a new probe cover and that the thermometer has been in the same room for at least 15 minutes, as this allows it to detece the ambient room temperature.

Do not hold the thermometer in your hand for more than 3 minutes as this can affect the reading, making it read lower. Ensure that the ear canal is clean and straight, as the probe needs to be aimed at the eardrum. If your child is below 2 years old, gently pull the ear back before taking a reading. If your child is above 2 years old, gently pull the ear upwards and backwards before taking a reading. These will help to straighter the ear canal.

How can I check if the readings are accurate?

To ensure that the temperature readings are accurate, we advise to follow the steps below:

  • Ensure that little one’s ear canal is clean – a lot of wax can reduce the temp reading
  • Make sure that the thermometer lens is clean and undamaged, check the cleaning and maintenance section for more details.
  • Use a new probe cover every time you take a reading (3 readings = 3 probe covers)
  • The thermometer must be calibrated to the temperature of the room where the readings are being taken
  • A higher temperature will be recorded in an ear that a child has been laying on, so best to use the other
  • Try not to hold the thermometer in your hand for more than 3 minutes as this can affect the reading, making it read lower than it is.
How to clean and maintain the In-Ear Thermometer?

The probe is the most delicate part of the thermometer. When cleaning the lens, be sure to handle it with care, avoiding damage. If the thermometer is accidentally used without a hygiene cover, don’t worry, as the probe can be cleaned in the following way:

  • Use a cotton swab with a solution that has an alcohol concentration of 70% to clean the lens found inside the probe.
  • Allow the probe to fully dry, for at least 1 minute.
